Haute Cuisine & a Movie Ticket Give Away!

Last week I was invited to the preview of the movie Haute Cuisine by the lovely Samantha of Trigger Marketing. Being a slight Francophile myself I was in heaven, a movie about a French Chef, set in my favourite two places in France, Paris and Périgord. It’s a wonderful movie in a beautiful setting but be warned, don’t watch it like I did on an empty stomach, we had to straight out for dinner afterward. It’s a humorous and engaging tale with mouth watering visuals in which recipes are discuss and prepared lovingly. I heartily recommend the movie if you, like me, love anything French and are a big foodie movie fan.

The good news is I have two double passes curtesy of Trigger Marketing to give away to the movie. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post before 26th April and I will take a luck dip from those names and the two names that are picked will win the passes. I will contact the winners for their mailing address.

The passes are valid at any movie box office showing Haute Cuisine. The tickets are valid from May 2nd to June 10th.

About the film: Hortense Laborie, a renowned chef from the Périgord, is astonished when the President of the Republic appoints her his personal cook, responsible for creating all his meals at the Élysée Palace. Despite jealous resentment from the other kitchen staff, Hortense quickly establishes herself, thanks to her indomitable spirit. The authenticity of her cooking soon seduces the President, but the corridors of power are littered with traps. Based on the extraordinary true story of President Francois Mitterand’s private cook.

Written & Directed by Christian Vincent
Starring Catherine Frot, Arthur Dupont, Jean d’Ormesson & Hippolyte Girardot

  2. I’d love to win some movie tickets! I’m a longtime follower, first time commenter 🙂 I’m desperate to get out to Hobsonville Point to try your doughnuts & I’m planning on making the Pacific panforte for this year’s Christmas gifts. Keep up the wonderful work!

  3. Sounds fab…will eat before hand! Two of my brothers have a holiday let in Normandy, and I have spent many a cosy Christmas and new year there enjoying all the gorgeous food treats. I indulge in two Christmas celebrations when in France…the French way Christmas eve and then again next day in good old kiwi style.

  4. Perigord’s memories of foie gras & truffles, yum…sounds like there is a little intrigue too. Which makes it even more interesting !

  5. What a great giveaway and I enjoy the posts on your website. Winning the tix will be a nice break from being a home executive with soon-to-be toddler. Love the part in Julia & Julia when Meryl Streep says what makes French cooking so good is “butteeeeeerrrrrr”

  6. Would love to see the movie! Like you Alli, I’m a big fan of everything French and food! Have you read the book “Hundred foot Journey” by Richard Morais? Just reading about food makes me want to cook.

  9. I can’t wait to see this film. Your advice for not watching it on an empty stomach will be observed! Just like don’t go food shopping when hungry & without a list unless you have £ to spare ! I often drive myself to distraction watching the food channels on my evenings off and the result is usually a mega feast !

So in preparation of watching ‘Haute Cuisine’ I will be either at my favourite, fantastic Portuguese restaurant opposite the local cinema in Streatham, south London. It’s called La Casita and serves the most amazing steaks & seafood at unbelievably good prices, family friendly, cheap beer, footy on the TV for the boys at the bar, and is always full of the local Portuguese families so you know it’s quality. My brother and father, who are both well travelled and seasoned restaurant clients, both said that La Castia’s steaks are the best they have ever eaten, and that’s high praise indeed

If that cinema is not showing it, I am sure it will be on at the Ritzy in Brixton, south London. The amazing covered food market in between Coldharbour Lane and Electric Avenue will definitely be able to indulge my taste buds. There are so many amazing little eateries that have sprung up in the last few years their that you are spoilt for choice cuisine wise and is well worth a visit, cinema going or not, if you have not been down there for a while.
